Alhaji Saleh Jambo, an oil mogul and founder of NorthEast Petroleum, has died in Abuja.

Jambo, who once aspired to rule the country under the umbrella of the United Nigeria People’s Party (UNPP) died at about 11am local time, at the Park House Specialist Hospital, Asokoro, Abuja, after a brief illness.

President Goodluck Jonathan, who said he was saddened by the passage of Sambo, has sent a condolence message to the family and political associates.

The President said he “joins them in mourning the very distinguished entrepreneur and political leader who made significant contributions to the economic and political development of his community and country.”

He prayed that Almighty Allah will receive Alhaji Saleh Jambo’s soul and grant him eternal rest in Paradise.
