This week’s refreshing episode of Supermom unveils two orphanages full of compassion and empathy.

In its sixth episode, the stories of Compassionate Orphanage and Arrow of God Orphanage become the focal point in the reality show.

Founder of Compassionate Orphanage, simply known as Mr. Oyedeji, started a nationwide centre for the homeless to help teenage girls who were chased out by their parents for getting pregnant, find succour. Some gave birth and abandoned them to the orphanage.

There was also a case of a baby girl with chronic sickle cell anaemia who was admitted for a month in the hospital, and the home has spent over N200,000 on her. She had a protruded belly, pneumonia and required infusion of blood.

The challenges of combing the whole of Lagos to get her prescribed drugs are not as traumatic as the sight of the helpless girl lying on the hospital bed. She rejected food and writhed in pains. Her sight brought out uncontrollable tears even from a stony heart.

But Oyedeji’s efforts were not in vain as the child who they thought would not live to see the next day is now hale and hearty, full of life, thus restoring the home founder’s joy.
