A 26 year-old mechanic, Stephen Mbah has emerged the first star prize winner in the monthly draw of the 2013 FC Barcelona promo put together by the telecommunications company, Etisalat.

Ubah was presented with the brand new Mercedes Benz ML 350 SUV 2013 model at a ceremony at the Ikoyi, Lagos office of Etisalat.

Five other customers who won N500,000 each in the monthly draw were also presented with their cash prizes.

An elated Ubah, who travelled from his base in Nasarawa State to receive his prize, on receiving the keys to the vehicle exclaimed: “To God be the Glory! I could not believe it until I received the second call from Etisalat. I have been using Etisalat for years now and I always try to answer all the questions during the promo, but this is my first time winning and it is a car!”

Keys to the Mercedes Benz SUV were presented by Director, Consumer Segment, Mr. Oluwole Rawa and Director, Retail Sales, Mr. Charles Ogunwuyi, both of Etisalat Nigeria.

Rawa explained that two more cars would be won by customers before the end of the promo. “Stephen Ubah has won the first Mercedes Benz ML350. We have another ML350 to be won, followed by a Mercedes Benz G-Wagon. It is only going to get bigger and better this year. In this year’s Promo, we have stepped up from Range Rovers to Mercedes Benz SUV during the monthly draw,” he said.

“Last year, 90 Etisalat subscribers won N500,000 each during the daily draws but this year, we would be giving out the N500,000 cash prize to 180 subscribers because Etisalat wishes to make more consumers happy and prosperous,” he disclosed.

Etisalat, he said, has been the official international partner of the FC Barcelona for over four years. “We are celebrating fans of FC Barcelona. FC Barcelona is known for quality football and innovation, which are values that Etisalat too is premised on. This symbiotic relationship with FC Barcelona has enabled us to engage our customers who are football lovers. The FCB Promo creates a suitable platform to connect with, celebrate and reward our esteemed customers, particularly those passionate about international football. We did it last year and fulfilled our promises. The Promo will run for 90 days this year, with the ultimate prize of a trip to Barcelona to watch the FCB play live,” he said.

Five other lucky customers, who received a cheque of N500,000 each, include Dandy Odionye, Fagbile Ibikunle, Chinakwe Nikki, Kingdom E. Olukutu and Edafe Yarhere. The five winners made up the second set of daily draw winners.
