Governor Fashola’s father: Dies

The father of Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, Alhaji Ademola Fashola is dead. He will be buried at 1p.m Tuesday.

He died in the early hours of  today in Lagos, southwest  Nigeria, at the age of 79, after a protracted illness.

He would have been 80 in September.

The Senior Special Adviser to the governor on  Media, Hakeem Bello, confirmed Papa Fashola ‘s  demise to P.M.NEWS this afternoon.

He  was said to have been ill for a long time  and  was flown to the United States of America for treatment last  year.

Governor Fashola, who is on holy pilgrimage to Mecca,  is expected has already  cut short his trip and is on his way back to  Nigeria for his father’s burial tomorrow.

Pa Fashola was for a long time a marketing staff of the defunct Daily Times newspaper.

A statement issued later by Governor Fashola’s special adviser on media and publicity, Hakeem Bello, quoted the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Lanre Babalola, as saying that the remains of Elder Fashola would be buried on Tuesday according to Muslim rites at the Vaults and Gardens, Ikoyi by 1 p.m.

According to the statement, the deceased is survived by children, grand children and great-grand children among whom are the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), Arinola Fuwa, Olayinka Fashola, Ademola Fashola, Omolara Fashola, Adewale Fashola, Ademola Fashola Jnr. and Ademola Keji Fashola.
