As Nigeria’s leading reality television show, Gulder Ultimate Search clocks 10, the action is set to return to the deep forest of Usaka in Obot Akara local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State once again.

This was announced during a media briefing to unveil plans for and celebrations of decade of the search.

Walter Drenth, Marketing Director, Nigerian Breweries Plc, said GUS Season 10 tagged “The 10th Symbol” will heralded the beginning of a new era.

“Undoubtedly previous searches were challenging and exciting. This year is not going to be different. 12 brave, courageous and determined individuals will go into the legendary woods of Usaka and I can assure you that neither the nervous, faint-hearted or weak contestants will make it through the hurdles,” Drenth told journalists present at the briefing held at the NB Plc headquarters in Iganmu, Lagos.

The reward at the end of the search as usual will be fame and fortune. The brave individual who emerges as the “Ultimate Man” is going to be rewarded with a cash prize of N10 million and a brand new Mitsubishi Pajero 3.0L GLS At (full option) courtesy of CFAO Motors Nigeria, which is coming as the official automotive partners of the GUS 10.

Other searchers will receive cash rewards from N3 million for the second position to N1 million for the first person to be evicted from the search. As its tradition, the “Last Girl Standing” with add N1 million to whatever amount she earns based on her position.

Once again, the organisers will bring back two of the fans’ favourite heroes from the previous seasons as Gatekeepers on this season’s show. The audience has been given the responsibility of selecting who they would be.

Last year, three past winners- Dominic Mudabai, Michael Nwachukwu and Christopher Okagbue, winners of Seasons 4, 5 and 8 respectively, emerged as the viewers’ choice from a pool of eight past winners.

And for the first time in the history of the search, consumers and viewers at home will also be given an opportunity to be part of the search in the spirit of the tenth anniversary of the show. With no swimming, jungle boots or running, it would essentially be fan-based search. Participation would be through mobile phones and check for a code under crown cork.

Twelve contestants would be shortlisted for a one-day final search in Lagos after different challenge process and a brand new Mitsubishi Pajero would be won by one lucky consumer. There are consolation prizes for others.

The entry into the search is free but an internet-based application process will lead to thousands of participants being screened at three locations across Nigeria.

The locations for the physical regional screening will be Owerri, Benin and Lagos.
