The Action Congress of Nigeria in Yewa South local government area of
Ogun State has suspended a member of the House of Representatives, representing YewaSouth/Ipokia Federal constituency, Abiodun Akinlade and twelve others for anti-party activities.

The party accused the suspended members of recklessness,insubordination to the party leadership and flagrant
disregard of the party’s constitution.

Others members suspended alongside the Federal lawmaker were:
Chairman, Owode ward 2 ,Yisa Asorowo, Chairman Oke-Oda ward, Atanda
Ogundele, Vice Chairman Oke-Odan, Isaac Singbenu, Secretary Oke-Odan
ward, Fatai Bamidele,Woman Leader in Oke-Odan ward, Wosilat Adewale,
Olakanmi Muraina,Pekun Fasinu, Adedimeji Shambaliu and Tunde
Ogundele all from Oke-Odan ward.

The communiqué signed by the Secretary of the party in the local
government, Sunday Areola also said Chairman of the party in Yewa South local government, Yahya Idowu, and other officials such as, Jelili Idowu ,Amoke Haruna,Kamoru Hamsat all from Owode ward 1, have been suspended.

The Communique read in part: “the meeting which was attended by 79
members of the party included party leaders, elders and the executive
members in Yewa South local government considered with great concern
the attitude that contravened the ethics and norms acceptable to the
party being displayed by the affected members and resolved
unequivocally without prejudice to suspend them indefinitely.

“The party leaders unanimously agreed to take this action to affirm
party supremacy over and above any person or group of person and to
maintain discipline in the party. The party thereafter mandated party
Vice Chairman,Hon. Ayo Olanrewaju to act as Chairman of the party
henceforth”.

Yahya Idowu, the suspended Chairman in the local government
described the action as a political coup, adding it was a ploy to remove some of them accused of being members of Labour Party.

He however, vowed to continue acting as Chairman of the party in the
local government.

“It is a political coup de tat to remove me and Akinlade, they said we
belong to Labour Party, the question is, where are our Labour Party
cards? Our names are not on the membership list of Labour Party. It is
a gang up, we will be silent for now waiting for the State Chairman,
Alhaji Tajudeen Bello to give direction on the purported
suspension”, he declared.

In another development, the ACN in Ogun West Senatorial District also anmnounced the suspension of some political appointees from the area for what they described as selfishness and greediness on their part.

Those suspended include the State Commissioner for Forestry, Ayo
Olubori, State SUBEB Chairman, Alhaji Mufutau Ajibola among others.
