The Committee of Chairmen of the Action Congress of Nigeria in the 20 local government councils of Ogun state today endorsed Governor Ibikunle Amosun for the 2015 election.

The move came on the heels of the endorsement of the governor by his senatorial district, Ogun Central yesterday.

The Senatorial District comprises six local councils: Abeokuta South, Abeokuta North, Odeda, Obafemi Owode, Ewekoro and Ifo.

Addressing a news conference Monday afternoon, the Chairman of Yewa
North local government, who doubles as the Secretary of the Chairmen
forum in the State, Elder Sunday Mathew Akinyemi said
Governor Amosun deserves the second term ticket, “having fulfilled his electoral promises under the five cardinal programmes of the party.”

The communique which was later obtained by our correspondent and
signed by 16 Chairmen read in part: “the Committee at
the session held on Monday, July 15, 2013, resolved that sequel to the
achievements of our amiable governor, the Committee of Chairmen of the
party in the State has decided to endorse His Excellency, Senator
Ibikunle Amosun for the 2015 governorship election in the State.

massive construction of model schools, distribution of free text
books, which happened last during late Bisi Onabanjo era, and
continuous renovation of classrooms.

“In the area of transportation, the bus mass transit of the
administration has drastically reduced fares and monopoly of some
transporters, while in the history of the state, the supply of
potable water has never been so stable and available. This is as a
result of the overhauling of the state water corporation”, the
statement read in part.

The Committee also listed achievements on health, agriculture, employment generation, security and prompt payment of workers’ salary as reasons for backing the governor for the second term.

Commenting on the suspension of some members of the party in the State
from Yewa South local government area, Elder Akinyemi, the Chairman of
Ogun West forum said,”we have a way we discipline members in our party and that has been adhered to strictly. Among those that were suspended was one of us, the Chairman of Yewa South and you can see that his deputy, whom they all agreed to be acting in his capacity, Hon. Ayo Olanrewaju is here with us. You know,if a woman want to leave her husband, she would be looking for unnecessary points to gain sympathy from the people, I believe you understand me very well”, he posited.

Given explanation concerning the Chairmen that were not on seat,
Adegun said,”I want to confirm to you that all of us, I mean, the 20
local government Chairmen have made the decision to endorse the
governor. Those that were not around are with us in spirit as some are
on sick bed while some are busy somewhere outside the State.

The four Chairmen that were absent at the endorsement ceremony are those of Sagamu, Odeda, Ijebu North-East and Obafemi-Owode local government areas.
