Jumoke Oduba Finds New Love

Actress Olajumoke Oduba may not be a regular face on the screen, but she has been around for some time. But lately, the Lagos State University Computer Science graduate has been missing at public functions.

P.M.News Whispers learnt that Oduba has found a new love–not what you are thinking, though. The pretty actress is now into the fashion business and has just launched a new clothing line and store.

Oduba, who is also a model whose face adorns many billboards, said she is taking a leave from acting to nurture her clothing line. She remarked that because of the competitive nature of the fashion business in Nigeria, she is introducing something different and more attractive.

Before this break, the actress had featured in hit flicks like Spider and More Than Sisters.

 

Aki And Pawpaw Celebrate

Akin_&_PawpawDiminutive comic actors, Chinedu Ikediezie (Aki) and Osita Iheme (Pawpaw) will roll out the drums to celebrate their 10th anniversary on the screen in the first quarter of 2013.

The duo met on the set of Aki Na Ukwa, a movie that brought them to fame. The celebration will see them visiting motherless babies’ and disabled people’s homes and hospitals, where they will present gifts and spend time with the inmates.

They will also use the ceremony to inaugurate a Skill and Talent factory, aimed at discovering and harnessing skills of talented individuals.

Ikediezie began his acting career in 1998 as an undergraduate at the Institute of Management and Technology, IMT, Enugu.

In 2003, he, alongside Osita featured in the blockbuster, Aki Na Ukwa, which marked the beginning of their successful careers.

Meanwhile, they are setting up their own film production company named Aki and Pawpaw Entertainment Nigeria, APEN.

 

Uru Eke Rejects Iyanya

Iyanya may be hot number to many eligible spinsters on the entertainment circuit, but actress Uru Eke is not one of them.

Last week, the Tinsel star was a guest on the last episode of Channels Television’s  Rubbin’ Minds, where she was asked by show host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, if she could fight for the attention of Iyanya. Her response was straight rejection: “No Iyanya please! Oh, no way! Because he is not my ‘spec’.”

When Ebuka asked her whom she would take home among D’Banj, Jim Iyke, Iyanya or him (Ebuka), Uru plumped for Ebuka.

Uru moved from the United States to Nigeria late last year and bagged a role in MNet’s hit soap, Tinsel. She has also featured in two movies: Dark Side, in which she starred alongside Joseph Benjamin; and Amina, an epic featuring Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Ghana’s Van Vicker, Will Johnson and Vincent Regan.

 

Mo’Cheddah Seals A Big Deal

Mo’Cheddah has built a reputation as one of Nigeria’s most prolific female emcees/singers. And she is starting 2013 on a positive note. Africa’s princess of pop, PMNews Whispers learnt, has just signed an endorsement deal with DealDey as brand ambassador.

The deal, said to be in the region of N10 million, will be for a year and is subject to renewal.

DealDey is a premier group-buying site offering Nigerians discounted deals on local restaurants, shops and more in Lagos and Abuja. It was launched in Nigeria in March 2011.

Mo’Cheddah burst onto the music scene in 2010.

 

Ebube Nwagbo Goes Topless

A week after actress Oge Okoye dragged a famous fashion photographer to one of the suites at the Eko Hotel and Suites for a steamy photo session, her colleague, Rukkie Sanda offered the public a generous view of sensitive parts of her body via sexy holiday photos. Next to catch the bug is Ebube Nwagbo.

Early this week, the screen queen released a set of pictures. As usual, she was stunning and got some lusty eyes trailing in one of the pictures where she was half-naked. She used her lush hair to cover her boobs in the photographs.

Despite missing in movies lately, Ebube has managed to stay in the news.

 

Wizkid, Tinnie In Cooking Collabo?

Last week, when pop rave, Wizkid,  posted on Instagram photos of himself hanging out with Tinnie Tempah, Nigerian-born British pop star, many reckoned it was confirmation of raging rumours of a pending Wizkid/Tinnie Tempah collaboration.

In the photograph was the logo of Tinnie’s Disturbing London record label in the background. Another photo showed the two working out at a gym. And with the EME star in London to wrap up works on his sophomore album, the rumour was further amplified, with many eager to see what two of Nigeria’s brightest young stars would deliver once they lift the lid of what’s going on between them.

PMNews Whispers learnt that it was not the first time the two stars would get together. Late December, when Tinnie was in Nigeria for the Koko Concert, he hung out with Wizkid.

 

I Can’t Be Like Tonto Dikeh —Uru Eke    

Actress Uru Eke has said that Tonto Dikeh has a strong and carefree attitude that would be difficult to emulate by anybody in the industry.

She made this observation on Rubbin’ Minds, a popular television programme shown on Monday. When the Tinsel actress was asked by the programme’s host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, if she would like to be like Tonto, Eke simply said, “I can’t deal with that much drama.”

Eke, who relocated to Nigeria from the United States of America late last year, spoke about her career, the Nollywood tradition and other issues on the programme.

Her other talents aside acting? “Maybe dancing. Yes, I’d like to dance for P-Square. That would be fun,” she enthused.

Aside Tinsel, Eke has also featured in Dark Side, a film that parades the likes of Joseph Benjamin and Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde.

 

Mercy Johnson, Others Complete Comedy Flick

Mercy Johnson and Ani Amatosero have completed the shooting of a comedy movie titled Baba Oku in America.

The hilarious flick, which was shot in Nigeria and Atlanta, USA, is directed by Ikechukwu Onyeka while Amaco Investment is the producer and marketer.

The film centres on a young girl (Mercy Johnson) who is impregnated by Okey (Chets Anekwe), an Atlanta-based businessman who comes to Nigeria to visit his parents.

He takes her back with him to the US but this marks the beginning of Okey’s troubles as his ‘Mgbeke’ girlfriend disgraces him everywhere she goes.

 

Blind Sarafa Drops New Album

Blind Fuji music act, Sarafa Akanni has released his third album, titled Encouragement.

Sarafa told P.M.NEWS Entertainment Café, “I cannot go begging considering my God-given talent and I don’t think begging is good for any disabled person.”

He said his debut album, Sweet Mother, was dedicated to all mothers of persons with disability while the second album, Cry No More was a success.

He disclosed that he is still looking for a marketer for the album which, according to him, promises to compete favourably with others in the market.

Akanni is a music graduate of Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo, Oyo State.

 

Zaaki Adzay Is Back

After a controversial separation from his wife, Hadiza, Zaaki Azzay has moved on with the release of a new single, Mindset. The song was released on Monday.

In Mindset, which features Konga, Zaaki indirectly clears the air on some controversies surrounding him, including his separation from Hadiza.

The single, according to the Benue State-born musician, will also prove that he is still relevant in the music industry he dominated some years ago.

Zaaki was among the few Nigerian celebrities decorated as Peace Ambassadors of the United Nations, in Lagos recently.

Coco Ice Debunks Illuminati Rumour

Coco Ice has debunked rumours of her connection with occult group, Illuminati.

Shortly after the songstress released the video of It’s Me, her second single, there were rumours that she flashed some signs synonymous with members of Illuminati. But Coco Ice has denied it.

A statement released by her management, Magikal Entertainment, claimed: “We were stunned to hear such cheap lies and derogatory rumours, but we are unperturbed because the video has been enjoying rave review and airplay due to its quality. Coco Ice doesn’t belong to the Illuminati as being rumoured. She is a Christian who has a strong belief in God.

“We implore everyone to check the video out. There’s nothing in it to have warranted it being credited to Illuminati. It’s purely a piece of art.”

The controversial video was shot by Abiodun Mathew Aina, otherwise known as Mattmax.

 

Ogungbe Slams Viewers Over Piracy

Abeokuta, Ogun State-based movie producer and director, Segun Ogungbe has blamed home video viewers for the financial woes of Nollywood actors, actresses and other stakeholders.

Segun, whose father, Ola Ogungbe is a younger brother to the late Akin Ogungbe, lamented that viewers’ patronage of pirated copies is the root of the financial predicament of the sector.

Segun Ogungbe, who said he started acting in his father’s theatre group in 1996, is most famous for his flick, Ibigiga. So far, he has released six movies, among which are Banke Desperado and Akanni Olowoorimi.

 

Osupa, Thunder Settle Rift

The long-standing rift between Murhi Alabi Thunder and Saheed Osupa has finally been settled.

P.M.News Entertainment Café learned that the rift between the top fuji stars was settled on 22 January by a delegation led by the President of Music Advertisers Association of Nigeria, MAAN,  Alhaji Waheed Oyediran a.k.a Mosebolatan; Sheu Musa Yaya Agboola, an Islamic scholar; and fans of the two artistes.

Oyediran said some fans of Murhi Thunder stormed Osupa’s Abina Street, Surulere, Lagos State residence at about 2 p.m. where they met Osupa, Alhaji Egebideen, Tantala Wasiu, Marvin Giwa records boss; and other well wishers.

He said after Osupa and Thunder briefed them on why they were at loggerheads, it was resolved that they should bury the hatchet and they both agreed.

To show that there is no more war, the two fuji stars will be having a joint concert at the Army Officers’ Mess, Abalti Army Barracks, Yaba, Lagos on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Murhi Thunder is currently working on an album titled Welcome Back Home.

 

Oris’ Elevatin VCD Ready    

Juju singer Price Ilesanmi Ikuomola, a.k.a Sanmi Oris, has completed work on the video compact disc,VCD, of his third album titled Elevation.

The teacher cum singer told P.M.News Entertainment Café that he started music in the 1970s and that playing music is a divine call.

With three albums to his credit, Oris is currently promoting the VCD of Elevation.

Other albums recorded by the singer are Arrival, released in 2000; Rejoice, in 2008, and Elevation, 2012.

 

Sunny Neji Is Peace Envoy

Highlife musician, Sunny Neji, has joined the league of peace ambassadors of the United Nations in Nigeria. The singer, among many other recipients, was, on 20 January, decorated with the peace robe and certificate.

Neji was recognised for his contribution to the course of  peace and progress in Africa with his style of music. A brand ambassador for many companies, Neji described the UN honour as timely and a reward for hard work. “The award is coming at the right time and I believe it’s as a result of hard work and the support for peace course in the African continent,” Neji told  PMNEWS Entertainment Café.

Neji, who gave out an I-Phone5 to a fresh graduate of the Tai Solarin University of Education, TASUED, Wole Fagbenro, for composing a poem on him on his birthday, already has two hit singles off his coming album.
