Fashionistas have many wow moments at the last edition of Schon Afrique fashion held recently at the Expo Hall of the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.
At the fashion show, sponsored by MTN, popular fashion designer, Folake Majin and her daughters, Tigi and Gogo Majin, brought the best out of Ankara fabrics and other textiles on parade.
The three collections unveiled by the designers created a new and fabulous dimension to Ankara fabrics, giving fashion enthusiasts something to think about this year.
Folake’s Diamond collection featured fabrics that can stand the test of time from Africa print, silk, chiffon, satin to old vintage Aso Oke with modern touches, which promote African beauty. Gogo’s Earth collection was inspired by nature while Tigi’s Midnight collection has its roots in her passion for rainbow, so as expected the designer explored the best of colour mixing for girlish cuts.
The designers also worked with assorted embellishments for classic feminine trends.
All in all, the collections were not just about colours, emphasis was laid on the cut, the fit and the finishing details of the designs to meet modern taste.
