JAF Protest: 2 Activists Released

Two of the four activists arrested yesterday by the police during a rally organised by the Joint Action Front, JAF, to protest the new traffic law in the state have been released.

General Secretary of JAF, Abiodun Aremu, who disclosed this to P.M.NEWS this morning said two of those arrested, Yusuf Oladimeji and Simon Aremu, were released around 5.p.m. yesterday at the Iponri Police Divisional, Headquarters, Lagos where they were detained.

He disclosed that two other activists, Francis Edem and another whose name is still unknown, were still being detained at the Area ‘G’ Police Divisional Headquarters, Ogba.

Aremu called on the state Commissioner of Police, Umar Manko, to appeal to his men to release the activists.

Members of JAF of the Civil Society Coalition in conjunction with hundreds of okada riders yesterday held a rally at Yaba bus stop to protest the new Lagos traffic law. They described the law as anti poor and oppressive.
