MD, Eko Megacity Bus Services Docked Over N14.8m Theft

A prominent Lagos-based transporter, Greg Kadibia Afam Nwosisi, 58, has been arrested by the police at the Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos Island, Southwest Nigeria, over N14.8 million theft.

Nwosisi was arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos on a three-count charge of obtaining credit facility under false pretences and stealing  N14,820,000.

The police prosecutor, S. Molo, alleged in the charge sheet that the accused, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Eko Megacity Bus Services Limited, was arrested following a complaint lodged by the management of Mestrella Ventures represented by Ajala Balogun.

Mestrella Ventures alleged that the accused in June 2012 at Block A, Plot 4, Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, beside Kia Motors, Lagos, with intent to defraud, obtained 36,000 litres of storage tank for diesel with dispenser valued at N9,600 and 33,000 litres of diesel valued at N5,280,000 from Mestrella Ventures with a promise to pay back the money within one month, a claim he knew to be false.

The offences, the prosecutor, alleged contravene Sections 411,(31) 313, (i) (a) and 285 (a) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011.

When the charges were read to him, he pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Aigbokhaebo, admitted him on bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.

The sureties, she directed, must be working in  reputable firms with proof of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the matter and the defendant was moved to Ikoyi Prisons when he could not meet the  conditions attached to the bail before the court closed for the day.
