Only 10 players were involved in the Eagles morning training at the UJ Esuene Stadium in Calabar on Tuesday.

The seven players from the Nigeria Premier League were joined by three foreign-based players, goalkeepers Austin Ejide and Vincent Enyeama as well as Nosa Igiebor, who features for Spanish La Liga side Real Betis.

Austin Ejide was the first overseas-based player to hit the Eagles camp. Ahmed Musa, Joseph Yobo, Efe Ambrose, Elderson Echiejile, Emmanuel Emenike and Ikechukwu Uche are expected to be in the Eagles camp today.

“We are expecting a full house by Tuesday afternoon because a lot of the player arrived Lagos in the early hours of today. So, they would be connecting Calabar later in the day,” Ben Alaiya, the team’s Media Officer told MTNFootball.com.

Italy-based stars Joel Obi, Ogenyi Onazi and Obiora Nwankwo are also expected to arrive late Tuesday, as well as Chelsea winger Victor Moses.
Meanwhile, Mikel Obi will be the last player to join the Eagles for this weekend’s match as he is not expected until Wednesday.

The Chelsea midfielder’s arrival was delayed because his passport was submitted to the Ukraine embassy in London to secure his visa ahead of an October 23 UEFA Champions League clash against hosts Shakhtar Donetsk.

A close confidant of the Jos-born star told MTNFootball.com that Mikel will finally fly into the country on Tuesday and will proceed to Calabar the following day.

“Mikel can’t be in the Eagles camp earlier because his passport was submitted along with those of his Chelsea mates to the Ukraine embassy to procure visa to travel for their Champions League game later this month.
“He will now be in Nigeria on Tuesday and proceed to Calabar on Wednesday. He would have been in Calabar same Tuesday but we are not sure there will be a flight to Calabar from Abuja by the time he will arrive,” the source said.

He has yet to feature for his country under coach Stephen Keshi, who took charge of the team last November. His return followed clamour from fans and some top officials after the Eagles midfield struggled to draw with Liberia during the first leg AFCON qualifier.

Nigeria host Liberia on Saturday in the southern coastal town of Calabar to determine the qualifier for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

Both teams played out a 2-2 draw in the first leg in Monrovia early last month.
