Plateau senate race: Pwajok PDP candidate

Mr Gyang Pwajok,  the former Chief of Staff to Plateau Governor, on Wednesday emerged as the PDP senatorial candidate for the Plateau North Senatorial District by-election scheduled for Oct. 6.

At the PDP primary election held in Jos on Wednesday, Pwajok polled   302 votes out of the 305 cast, while his opponent, Second Republic Deputy Senate President, Sen. John Wash-Pam, received two votes.One vote was declared void.The Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Mr Paul Agboola, who announced the result, said 307 delegates were accredited for the poll but added that he could not account for two votes.

Shortly after the exercise, the state Deputy Governor, Mr  Ignatius Longjang, declared that there was neither a winner or loser in the congress.According to him Wash-Pam knew politics was a game and only participated “to give the contest an impetus”.“I congratulate both of you because there is no loser and there is no winner,” he said.Pwajok, in a reaction, said that the outcome of the election had confirmed his acceptance by the party.He promised to work toward creating a relationship between the young and the old.Wash-Pam, however, said that the election was “skewed as illiterates were being assisted by others to write names of candidates.
