Paedophile Sent To Kirikiri After Raping 8 Children

The Family Court in Ikeja, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, has sent Mr. Temitope Alo who is suspected to have raped eight children at Ayobo area of the state to Kirikiri Prison.

Alo was arraigned at Family Court, Court 6, Magistrate’s Court, Ikeja on Tuesday for allegedly raping eight children.

The children had testified in court that they were raped by the suspect at different times at Ayobo area of the state, but he denied the act and was granted bail.

The accused was charged with having carnal knowledge of the under-aged children and thus committed a crime punishable under the laws of Lagos State.

After he pleaded not guilty, he was granted bail in the sum of N500,000 and must produce sureties who have houses and landed properties in the area where the crime was allegedly committed.

The sureties must possess international passports, tax receipts and show evidence of working in Lagos State.

As he could not meet the bail conditions, the magistrate ordered him to be sent to Kirikiri Prison pending when he would meet the bail conditions, while the case was adjourned till 10 December.

The accused was arrested on Saturday at Koloba area of Ayobo after the children confessed that he raped them. He was detained at the Ayobo Police Station from where he was taken to court on Tuesday.

The eight raped victims, whose ages range from eight to 15 years were, brought to the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, WAPA, Tuesday by the Vice Chairman, Ipaja-Ayobo Local Council Development Area, LCDA, Alhaja Falilat Ajijola for the state government to take over the case.

Tests conducted on the eight children at the Ayobo-Ipaja Primary Health Centre, PHC, showed that the children were raped.

Chairman, Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA, Alhaji Shakiru Adisa Yusuf said he was shocked when he heard the story of the alleged rape of eight children, saying such a person must be worse than an animal.

“I was shocked because I am also a parent. Why must he go after innocent children? Such people should not live in this community,” he said, adding that the council would pursue the case to ensure that justice was done.
“We will collect the tests conducted on the children and hand them over to the state government. We will pursue the case to a logical conclusion. This man has brought disgrace to this community,” he said.

One of the victims, an eight years old girl (name withheld) had said that the suspected rapist told them to help him arrange newspapers in his apartment, saying that “after that, he told us to go into the next room.
“He asked us to remove our pants and I asked him what he wanted to do to us. He laid me on the bed and defied me four times. He covered our mouths with white handkerchief and threatened to kill us if we report,” she said.
