The Lagos State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ademorin Kuye, has refuted allegation of fund misappropriation through alleged illegal funding of the Lagos Junior League by the Committee of Local Government and Local Council Development Areas in the state.

A national daily last Wednesday reported that the Lagos State House of Assembly had summoned the Commissioner over illegal funding of the Junior League Board over the collection of money from the 57 LGAs and LCDAs in the state without due process.

Kuye while refuting the allegations said the agreement between the Board and the Conference 57 had been in existence before he was appointed as the commissioner in 2011.

He added that as part of the all-inclusive process of repositioning the grassroots administration in the state, he had convened meetings between the Junior League Board and the council chairmen and that the disposition of the chairmen had been for a re-organisation of the board and reform agenda for better development of the youth and expressed shocked that a newspaper still went ahead to report what was not the position of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

“I will never be part of what is not right and just. The relationship between Conference 57 and the Junior League Board predates my assumption of office. To now level allegation of fund misappropriation against me is to say the least, unfair,” he said.

The commissioner noted that the report was only a figment of imagination, saying that no allegation of fund mismanagement or misappropriation was levelled against him by the lawmakers.
