Top Fuji music act and former chairman, Caretaker Committee of Lagos State Council of Fuji Musicians Association of Nigeria (FUMAN), Sir Kareem Ayinde Olomide, last week emerged chairman of the state’s branch of Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), following the withdrawal of his major opponent and top juju music act, Yinka Best, from the race.

His inauguration was witnessed by former secretary-general of PMAN, Mr. Okumoise E. Okumoise, the Acting president, Ras Murphy Van Anthony, Fuji top shot, Alhaji Fancy Aye Alamu, M.F. Olayinka and publisher of Scroll magazine, Mrs. Janet Mba-Afolabi, among other musicians and dignitaries. Olomide, fondly called Kabiyesi by his teeming admirers, noted in his speech that his emergence was a matter of destiny and God’s will, while expressing his determination to take the union to an enviable height.

According to him, “I am elected into office to serve as well as protect the interest of members of the various music unions under the auspices of PMAN in the state, regardless of my musical background. Therefore, I will be guided by the principle of fairness, equity, justice and rule of law in the discharge of my duties,” while thanking members for their painstaking efforts and support.
