Robbery Gang Terrorises Akowonjo

The police at Mosalasi Police Station, Ipaja, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, have appealed to residents of Akinwowo, Famose streets and environs in Akowonjo-Egbeda to produce a prime suspect in a robbery incident in the area to aid their investigation.

Residents of the area were on Monday attacked by a 15-man robbery gang.

The gang robbed tenants of 3, Famose Street, Jimoh Bus Stop, Akowonjo of their personal effects and valuables. One of the tenants was injured by the robbers.

A victim who gave his name as Anietie, said they were caught unawares.

“The robbers ransacked the rooms one after the other, threatening to kill anyone who fails to comply with their demand. I thought we were going to be killed by the robbers who could not be more than 23 years.

“My room was the first to be robbed. They banged on my door and ordered me to open it. Before I could say anything, the door was brought down. One of them smashed a bottle on my head.

“While I was battling to stop the blood coming out of my nostril, the robbers ransacked my room, took my phones and collected the cash I had on me,” he narrated.

Another victim who identified herself as Margaret disclosed that the robbers stole her Blackberry and two handsets. Her handbag containing an undisclosed amount of money was also taken away by the robbers.

“The boys were pushing and ordering me around the room. From all indications, they were under the influence of Indian hemp and alcohol. They asked me to bring all the money in the house or else they will kill me.

“My greatest pain is the Blackberry they snatched from me. I have not finished the payment for the gadget which I collected in the office. They also took my two Nokia handsets away,” she lamented.

Other tenants of the house were also attacked by the robbers who ransacked their rooms and carted away valuables and cash.
