U-17 Women's World Cup Qualifier: Abeokuta To Host Nigeria, Kenya Tie

Nigeria’s Flamingoes will host their Kenyan counterparts for the second leg of FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifying fixture at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The team led by Peter Dedevbo, arrived in the Rock City on Friday for a week training.

Patience Okaeme scored one goal in each half in the first leg at the Nyayo Stadium, Kenya to give the Flamingoes a head start to the Saturday’s decider.

The East African petitioned CAF that Nigeria used overaged players to prosecute the first leg, an allegation whch the Nigerian officials denied.

Coach Dedevbo told SuperSport.com that the Flamingoes are looking ahead to a good game on Saturday.

“We are happy to have won the first leg by 2-0, but we have put that victory at the back of our minds as we prepare for the return leg match.

“We have settled down well in Abeokuta and have everything to fully concentrate on our training programme.

“We will go all out against the Kenyans on Saturday to record another resounding victory,” said Dedevbo, who led the class of 2010 to the quarterfinals of the World Cup in Trinidad and Tobago.

Victory on aggregate will reward the Nigerian women with a final round clash with either Botswana or Zambia in March.
