The Patron of Festac Town Youth Association, Eng. Oluwafemi Sholanke, has declared that the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress betrayed Nigerians with the way they handled the discussion with the Federal Government over the fuel subsidy removal.

He has therefore vowed to mobilise a million youths to press home their demands for better governance and a reduction in the size of President Goodluck Jonathan’s cabinet and a general overhaul of government at all levels.

Sholanke disclosed this after leading over a thousand youths on a peaceful protest last week.He also threatened to gather one million youths across the country and convey them to Aso Rock to tender their grievances.

The Computer Engineer opined that there was no need for the removal of the fuel subsidy stating “Jonathan is heading for trouble, since he decided not to listen to the cry of the masses; we the youths are angry, we are giving him and his cabinet a two-week ultimatum after which we would head to Abuja for a peaceful protest to let him know that we are not happy”.

He took a swipe at the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and the Trade Union Congress, TUC for betraying the trust reposed in them. Sholanke believes that if the unionists had not sold out, President Jonathan would have listened to the cries of the people.

On the presence of military personnel in Lagos State, he said it was senseless because Jonathan has not been able to tackle the Boko Haram sect that has been wasting lives of innocent people across the country.
