Come Friday Night, five of Nigeria’s notable divas —Stella Monye, Yinka Davies, Kenny St Brown, J’odie and Omawumi— will lead the powerhouse of female singers that will pay tribute to the late Dame Hope Onwenu (Ochie Dike), the mother of music icon, Onyeka Onwenu.

Billed to hold at the Unity Centre, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, the show dubbed “Night of Tributes and Songs in honour of Our beloved matriarch” will be a red carpet celebrity event to honour a truly great woman, according to the Onyeka Onwenu, one of the deceased children.

“It will be a night of excellent entertainment in every way. People will enjoy good music in a refreshing atmosphere. It will be a fantastic evening. It will also be a night to give glory to God for a life well spent,” Onwenu said.

Other artistes billed to perform during the night include Vicky and Tee Songz, two of the top ten contestants at the recently held Glo Naija Sings. To also add spices to the event are top rated comedians like Gbenga Adeyinka 1st, Mandy, Lepacious Bose, Koffi and numerous others.

The late Dame Hope Onwenu died at the age of 92 on 22 October 2011. She will be buried on Friday, 13 January 2012, after a commendation service at St. Andrews Anglican Church, Obinetiti, Arondizuogu, Imo State.
