Suswam stated this in his new year message which was signed by Dr. Cletus Akwaya, Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs and made available to P.M.NEWS.

He appealed to Nigerians as well as all Benue people to put behind the negative attributes in our national and state life that tended to slow down the country and the state’s march to greatness as they enter the new year.

“As a people, we must enter the new year with renewed determination to break from the things that tend to retard our progress. This country is destined for greatness and it behoves all of us to do the right things all the time so that we can translate our great potentials to real opportunities,” he said.

Governor Suswam maintained that his administration has carefully mapped out an economic development programme as enshrined in the 2012 budget before the state House of Assembly that would change the economic fortunes of the state.

“In 2012, we want to create jobs and expand the economy through the promotion of cottage and micro enterprises in active partnership with the private sector,” Suswam noted.

While commending Benue people for their support, understanding and good conduct in the out-gone year which enabled his administration record monumental successes, Governor Suswam also sued for sustained support in the new year.

He promised that his administration will not rest on its oars in the protection of lives and property as has been the case in the out-gone year, adding that security of lives and property will be given high priority in 2012.
