As tolling progresses on Admiralty Circle Plaza on Eti-Osa – Lekki – Epe Expressway in Eti-Osa Local Government Area, the Lagos State Government has appealed to motorists and all residents of that axis to show more understanding as efforts are continually being made to solve the teething problems currently being experienced on the road.

Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Aderemi Ibirogba said: “We are aware that many individuals and corporate organizations are responding to the challenges by embracing the e-tag and swift pass, including bulk subscription to make payment easy and reduce time wastage in the cause of having to pay cash or collect change.

“We, however, appeal to other motorists to key into the e-tag arrangement to ensure smooth operations and avoid unnecessary delay at the toll collection point. We use this opportunity to once again notify motorists that wish to avoid the Admiralty Plaza to use the alternative routes.”

He said as a responsive government, the first decision on the issue of tolling was to abide by international best practice by ensuring that alternative routes were created for the purpose of creating choices for the people.

“In view of this, road users on the Eti-Osa-Lekki-Epe Expressway that do not wish to pass through the Admiralty Circle Plaza (TPL 1), located at Kilometre 3, along the expressway have the choice of passing through the Ligali Ayorinde or Oba Oniru Road, enroute Market Road, First round about, which can serve as an entry road into Ikoyi, or Victoria Island.

“The second alternative route is for those living in places such as Agungi, Osapa, second round about, Jakande and others, and those coming from Eleko-Epe axis. These set of road users have the option of avoiding the tolling plaza by making a detour at the second round about.

“The link road passes through Remi Olowude – Kayode Road, also linking the Oniru- Market to connect Exxon Mobil Office in Maroko, for those going to Ikoyi, Obalende and Lagos Island and Ligali Ayorinde to those going to Victoria Island,” he explained.

Ibirogba, in a statement added that apart from these alternative routes, there were also slip/access roads linking the various communities and business concerns to the expressway.

He said such roads “are in places like QMB Builders market, Insurance PGB, Elizade Motors, immediately after the second round about and in places like Osapa – Agungi axis. Similarly, work is ongoing on the third alternative routes which will run on both sides of Chevron.”
