Nollywood daring actress Tonto Dikeh has shown the humane side of her private life recently when she hosted 100 smart children in Lagos.
The children, Showbiz Trends learnt, are those who have distinguished themselves in their studies and the star actress went all out to encourage them.
The party held at Troy Lounge, Ogba, Lagos saw Tonto single out two primary school children-Ibitayo Adeyemo and Femi Akintunde for a 2-year scholarship that will see them through school.
Speaking on what motivated the gesture, Tonto said there is need to stem the rot that is fast affecting the values and qualities in the educational sector. “I decided to do this because I noticed that a lot of things are changing in our society. When I was growing up, most of the big companies were supporting education with scholarships. There are literary and debating clubs in our school and with all these, students strive to be their best but all these are being lost due to lack of interest and motivation from the larger society,†she said.
Tonto said that she will ensure that the project is sustained because, “I know it will give me fulfillment and make me happy.â€
