Against the expectations of music lovers across the country, the annual international music concert, Star Mega Jam, will not hold this year. The two-city (Lagos and Abuja) concert sponsored by the Star brand will not take place due to logistics challenges.

A source told Showbiz Trends that Nigerian Breweries Plc, organisers of the concert, decided to shelve the concert this year due to their desire to surpass the success of last year’s edition in which African-American R&B superstar, R.Kelly, featured in  the two-city show that sold out.

“You know the company’s belief in quality and always wants to ensure that its events measure up to set standard. The arrangement for the concert this year hasn’t met up with expectations,” the source said.

In a statement from the Corporate Affairs Adviser, Nigerian Breweries Plc, Mr Yusuf Ageni, the company regretted all inconveniences the cancellation will cause the fans, who have been eagerly awaiting this year’s edition.

“Star has brought an impressive list of international artistes to delight its consumers in a world class stage over the last eleven years, but it would not hold this year due to some logistic challenges,” Ageni stated.

The annual concert has run back-to-back for more than ten years with an impressive A-list international music stars alongside the best of Nigerian music superstars and has become the benchmark for musical concerts in Nigeria in terms of music and entertainment with an international flavour.
