Walz Drops Checkmate

There seems to be no slowing down the fast-growing Nigeria music industry with new talents emerging daily on the scene. Another new act that has joined the fray of upcoming artistes is Olawale Oyenubi, popularly known as Walz.

The new star in the making has finally emerged with a bang with the release of his first album, titled Checkmate. Showbiz Trends learnt that the 23-year-old graduate of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana, may sacrifice his petroleum engineering career for a musical pursuit with his debut album consisting of 10 tracks.

Speaking on his musical career, he stated that by nature, he is not cut out for a desk job which will bore him easily, “I am a type who cannot sit in the office for long,” he declared.

Although Walz believes in achievement through education but his passion for music has led him this far and could make him one of the hip-hop stars in town because he is passionate about music.

The young artiste and songwriter who attended Christ Redeemerâ€s College, Sagamu, Ogun State, assured his fans that it is going to be fun all the way, adding that he has much in stock for music lovers.

Walz, whose sources of inspiration are lifeâ€s activities, struggle, joy and nature noted that he is kind of music is diverse.

“Since hip-hop is a dynamic kind of song, I would say I donâ€t have a particular style. I have different styles which Nigerians will love. As we change, time changes. We live every day, so we need to dance to the beat of time and so style changes with time,” Walz said.
