Olympic Playoffs: Kayode Doubtful For U-23 Eagles

Asec of Abidjan striker Olanrewaju Kayode is the latest player who may make Nigerian team for the final qualifying tournament for the 2012 Olympics, which will take place in Morocco.

According to team officials, Asec have insisted the player would only be available from 26 November, same day the Dream Team will open their CAF U-23 Championship campaign against hosts Morocco.

Media Officer of Nigeria’s U-23 Eagles, Arafat Aliu, said that the Olympic team are also yet to receive word from Almeria (Spain) and Reggina (Italy) the clubs Azeez Ramon and Daniel Adejo play for.

In the meantime, Atletico Madrid of Spain striker, Olaitan Otubanjo,  has joined the team’s training camp in Accra, Ghana.

Al Merreikh of Sudan striker, Stephen Worgu, arrived Accra on Saturday morning, while Victoria Setubal of Portugal defender, Terna Suswam, is expected to increase the number of foreign-based arrivals any moment from now.

Worgu and Otubanjo will be part of the U-23 Eagles for their second tune-up game on Sunday against Ghanaian Premier League side, Tema Youths.

Worgu, the former Enyimba forward, will head back to Sudan on Monday for a crucial game with his Sudanese club on 19 November, after which he would team up with the Dream Team V should he make the final 21 list to Morocco.

Coach Austin Eguavoen is expected to submit his final list of 21 players to CAF on 16 November.
