Embattled Governor Timipre Sylva of Bayelsa State, whose name was again missing from the list of the second batch of gubernatorial aspirants released yesterday by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, insists that he remains in the race and unperturbed.

His Chief Press Secretary 1, Mr. Antasia Oburu, in a telephone interview with P.M.NEWS this morning, said: “the governor has always asked us to tell those who are worried that ‘I de kamkpe. I am still in PDP. I am not leaving the party. I am a loyal member of the party.’”

Oburu said the governor himself has repeatedly told his close aides that since his travails started he has remained focused and resolute because he is in the race to win under the PDP platform.

He said: “the strength of the governor is derived from the fact  that he  is a performer, because a few years ago, there were less than 20 roads in the capital city of Yenagoa, but today we can see good network of roads.”

On the way forward for the governor, the No.1 CPS said that Sylva is still consulting stakeholders of the party and that at the end he will win the state for PDP.

Aspirants so far cleared are Orufa Justine Boloubo, Henry Seriake Dickson, Enai Christopher Fullpower, Kalango Michael Youppele, Doukpala Francis Amaebi, Ekiyegha Fred Korobido and Austin Febo. Well known aspirants such as Silverbird TV boss, Ben Murray Bruce and Timi Alaibe, have also not been cleared to contest the party’s primary scheduled for 19 November.

Meanwhile, since his travails started, the wheel of governance of the state has virtually ground to a halt as no senior government official is found on his desk these days. Most of them have relocated to Abuja in the guise of consulting with PDP stakeholders.

Violence has also erupted in the state capital as supporters of the aspirants clash with one another. Several persons have been killed.
