Samson Siasia has lamented that his position as the Chief Coach of Nigeria’s Super has to end in being kicked out of the job.

The former Nigerian international while reacting to the decision of the board of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, to relieve him of his job today, told SuperSport.com that he did his best while in charge of the senior national team.

“I take it (my sack) in good faith. I gave it (the job) my all. It’s a pity it had to end this way,” he lamented.

Siasia’s position became untenable after he failed to steer the Eagles to a place at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

Siasia did not lose any competitive game during his time at the reign with his only defeat coming in a friendly international against Argentina in Dhaka, Bangladesh on 11October.

The NFF has ordered a committee to meet next Tuesday to recommend a replacement for the sacked Siasia.

Meanwhile, in the wake of Siasia’s sack, Nigerians have continued to bare their minds on the action of the Aminu Maigari-led NFF.

Sports journalist, Tayo Adeyemo told P.M.Sports that “Siasia’s sack is a welcome development. To me he should have resigned before he was sacked. I only hope that the NFF will get a quality coach for us.”

To Ajibola Ahmed, Team Manager of Oniru United, “sacking Siasia cannot move Nigerian football forward. I was shocked when I heard the news. Our problem is corruption of our leaders and unless we tackle this, the problem will still be there,” he said.
