Three More Out of GUS 8

Samuel Lazarus and Franklin Inegbedion on Sunday, 2 October joined the growing list of evictees from the Gulder Ultimate Search 8. The two contestants were sent packing from the show alongside the first female casualty, Affram Oladunni on the same day, making it the first time in the history of the Search, that the ladies will be dominating the reality TV show.

The male folk are suddenly the minority in the first set of 10 GUS 8 contestants to enter the Ososo forests in search of fame and fortune. With only two of them remaining, four of the five girls who entered in the first group remain in the competition.

Showbiz Trends gathered that the three evictees had their adventures terminated after their second task. During the challenge, each contestant was required to couple a ladder with ropes which they would use in reaching nine keys dangling on a pole nearby.

They would then disassemble the ladder, carry it to another spot with another set of keys dangling on poles and repeat the routine. Though nine keys were placed on the first set of pole for each of the nine contestants, the second and third poles had eight and seven keys respectively.

Thus, two of the contestants would be left without keys. Each key was used to open a box containing flags.

Samuel became the first casualty and opted not to continue with the task when he could not assemble his ladder. He was, however, urged by Bob Manuel Udokwu, the show anchor, to complete the task, though he trailed behind the others. He was eventually evicted as he could not get hold of a key.

Ola, the only female evicted thus far, was also unsuccessful, and so her GUS 8 journey came to an end.

Fate dealt Franklin a terrible blow, just as mother luck smiled on Betty in the third task. Each of the contestants was required to fetch water from a stream using small bowls, pouring it into buckets located a few metres upstream. Each bucket had flags tied to a stick. As the water in the bowl increased, the stick rose until the flag tied to the end of the sticks was at full mast.

The contestants were required to perform this task blindfolded, although they would be aided by ropes running from the buckets to the stream. Indeed, it was a tricky task for the contestants as they shuttled between their buckets and the stream guided by their ropes, tripping and stumbling over each other in the process. For Franklin, it was tough luck as he mistakenly poured water into Betty’s bucket. Betty could hardly believe her luck when the flag in her bucket went up before others, courtesy of Franklin.
