The Ogun State House of Assembly on Wednesday ratified Justice Olatokunbo Olopade as the Chief Judge of the state.
Olopade, the first female chief judge of the state, replaced Justice Oluremi Jacobs.
Speaking after taking up her appointment, she urged the police and the prisons to join hands with the judiciary to ensure speedy delivery of justice in Ogun, while promising to review the state’s civil criminal procedure rules.
“As a chief judge, I will be visiting prisons from time to time so that judgments are delivered in due course and I will also encourage the judges so that cases will be brought to an end in good time.
“Innocent people will be set free. We have to work hand-in-hand with prison authorities and the police. The police will do the investigations, and when they complete their investigations, we can then give the judgement,†she said.
