11 Hawkers Arrested In Ketu

Officials of the Kick Against Indiscipline, KAI, have arrested some roadside hawkers at the popular Ketu Market, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, for constituting environmental nuisance in the area.

The arrested hawkers were taken to the KAI office at Alausa, Ikeja and fined N50,000 each.

A KAI official who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to speak with journalists, said the raids will continue, stressing that the oufit was poised to stop roadside trading in Ketu.

“They have not seen anything yet. This is just the beginning. The fine option given to them is to warn them and to serve as a deterrent to others.

“We are still watching out for others because if we should leave now, they will come back. We will station our Black Maria and our men there.
