Respite may have come the way of the less privileged students in Lagos State as an international model, singer and actor, Pius Okaba, popularly known as Codread, has rolled out plans to donate some items needed to make learning comfortable for them.

Codread, who described the move as part of his plans to give back to the society in his own little way, confirmed to Campus Square that the charity effort will soon begin from Babs Fafunwa Millennium Secondary School, Ojodu, Lagos, where he is expected to donate about 100 pairs of school sandals to the students.

Campus Square further gathered that the South Africa-based Codread, is liaising with the alumni of Ojodu Grammar School (now Baba Fafunwa Millennium School) and Square Image Associates, a media/artiste management and public relations outfit to actualise the dream.

“It has always been my dream to do things like this, and I felt coming back home to Nigeria will be one of the best options. By the grace of God, this gesture is going to be a continuous one as I believe there are many youths who do not have access to good education or related things in this country,” said award-winning Codread, who just released his new single entitled: Pon Roborobo.

According to Debo Olowa, the vice president of the alumni, “Codread is a fantastic artiste that is also very passionate about the well-being of the less privileged and I think what he is trying to do now should be a reference point to his colleagues. Besides, it would not be a bad idea if multi-national companies support or emulate him.”

In her reaction, the Principal of the school, Mrs. Adebayo, who was informed of the development by some executives of the alumni, lauded the initiative, and described Codread as one of the good ambassadors of Nigeria and Africa.
