The rumours and fears of possible attacks by Fulanis today after the Jumat prayers forced many banks and offices to close prematurely in Jos today .

As at 2pm today, the streets and markets at Jos according to what P.M.News gathered were almost deserted as residents were not prepared to take chances .

The fears came on the heels of the widely circulated e-mail and text messages sent to some muslims across the state urging them to prepare for attack on Jos natives today after the Jumat.

Parts of text message read: ” militants expected from Kaduna ,Kano, Bauchi and Maiduguri to join muslims in Jos for a mass attack.”

The alleged text further read: “There is possible attack on PHCN facilities to aid the attackers and that there should be no fears as two persons have donated 50 million naira to ensure smooth operation.”

Though Plateau Governor, Jonah David Jang P.M.News learnt was out of the country for official duties , the security agencies today met and resolutions were reached to beef up security , particularly within areas identified as flash points.

A combined team of police and soldiers have been drafted to secure the state.
