The West African Examinations Council WAEC has allayed fears of stakeholders over reports that it has upgraded the recently released May/June 2011 WASSCE results posted on the council’s result checkers website: www.waecdirect.org.
In a statement signed by the Deputy Director (Public Affairs), Y.D. Ari, WAEC stated that the WASSCE May/June 2011 were released on Wednesday, 10 August, 2011 with some outstanding results.
“However, due to human error that was traced to some staff, the result update altered the already released results. The council wishes to allay the fears of our numerous stakeholders and assure them that WAEC does not “upgrade†results as has been reported. The results remain as they were released on August 10, 2011,†the council stated.
It also promised to sanction the officers connected with the error.
