The 72-year old publisher of Vanguard Newspapers, Mr. Sam Amuka-Pemu, has said that he was visibly shaken by the armed robbery attack on him yesterday .

The publisher, who is yet to get over the shock, spoke to P.M.NEWS this morning while reacting to the attack.

P.M.NEWS gathered that the bandits who stormed his house yesterday trailed him to the house before attacking him.

The robbers who caught up with him in front of his house, demanded for the sum of N1 million but later left with N500,000 after ransacking his bedroom.

Other items carted away by the armed robbers include his grey colour Honda Accord car with registration number CF 411 FST, mobile phones, a laptop and several office documents.

Lagos State Police spokesman, Samuel Jinadu, said the state Commissioner of Police, Yakubu Alkali, spoke with Amuka-Pemu immediately after the incident to ascertain that he was in good condition and later beefed up security around his home.

The commissioner also despatched the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, Tunde Sobulo, in company of other senior police officers, to the scene of the crime.

The spate of armed robbery attacks has increased in the metropolis since the April general elections ended.
