Lami Phillips has taken social responsibility to another level when in a spontaneous act of kindness adopted an entire orphanage in Lagos.

Showbiz Trends gathered that Lami has decided to undertake the running of the Nigeria Red Cross Society’s Motherless Babies home in Makoko, Yaba, Lagos.

The singer, who was on a visit to the orphanage last week, was moved by the conditions of the facilities and inmates and decided to adopt the orphanage as her pet project.

The adoption was done through her NGO, BeTheChange, and she intends to use her large circle of friends to raise the much-needed funds to ensure that the children live a better life than the one they are presently forced to.

“I have been seeking to support a specific cause in the society and have considered a number of institutions. But when I visited the Nigerian Red Cross Society’ Motherless Babies Home and shared experiences with the kids, my heart settled on them,” said Lami, a UN Ambassador.

Her activities would include monthly gigs whose proceeds would go towards the upkeep of the place and she also hopes that other celebrities, especially those with NGOs, would come on board or take up similar causes in the society.
