Lagos State House of Assembly has set up a three-man committee to investigate the alleged misappropriation of funds levelled against the Chairman of Badagry West Local Council Development Area, Hon. Joseph Hotoyon Bamgbose by the council’s legislators.

The committee headed by Hon. (Dr.) Razaq Balogun is expected to submit its report within two weeks.

The Speaker of the House, Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji while inaugurating the committee ordered that the status quo in the council remains and the chairman should continue to play his constitutional role as the elected chief executive of the council while councillors should also continue their legislative function, pending the outcome of the committee’s report.

Meanwhile, Bamgbose has urged members of the public and the council workers to go about their legitimate duties as the highest law making organ in the state has intervened in the matter.

He said he believes that the feud will be resolved amicably because of the confidence reposed in the committee members and the Speaker of the House whom he described as a leader with integrity.

Two of the five legislators had issued an impeachment letter on the council chairman last week over alleged mismanagement of public funds.

But the chairman contested the purported impeachment, describing it as null and void.

The crisis later attracted the attention of the lawmakers at the state House of Assembly.
