Traders at the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu ultra modern shopping complex at Ajewunmi-Ajelogo market in Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area of Lagos State have cried out over the power outage that has thrown the market into darkness for several weeks.

The traders called on the state governor, Babatunde Fashola, to come to their aid.

The market with 600 lock up shops that was once bubbling with activities when it was built and commissioned about four years ago has turned out to be a mere shadow of its former self.

A visit to the market revealed that the 500 KVA transformer that Governor Fashola donated to the market at its inception in 2007 did not serve the traders for more than six months.

The Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, was said to have tired its best to fix the transformer, but it finally packed up and has thrown the market into total darkness for several weeks.

The lack of electricity power supply coupled with the high cost of diesel has forced many traders in the market to relocate.

Some of the traders who spoke with P.M.NEWS decried the attitude of the Agboyi-Ketu LCDA to their plight and called on Governor Fashola to assist them by replacing the damaged transformer.
