Police Foil Robbery, Recover Truck, Arms

The Police at Ojo Division, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, have foiled a robbery attempt at Alaba International Market, Ojo.

P.M.NEWS gathered from police source that a gang of armed robbers stormed the area as early as 3 a.m and had successfully robbed a victim of his fiat truck marked VC460KJA when a distress call was made to the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, in charge of Ojo Police Station.

The DPO, according to our source, immediately dispatched a team of anti-robbery policemen to the scene and on sighting the police, the robbers took to their heels but two were not lucky as they were arrested.

The identity of the two suspects were said to have made useful statements to the police while the police have intensified effort to arrest other members of the gang.

In a similar development, anti-robbery policemen from Area E Command, Festac Town, acting on a tip-off have arrested a suspected armed robber at an uncompleted building along Amuwo Odofin link bridge with one locally made pistol and two live cartridges.

Narrating the two inicdents, the Lagos State Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Samuel Jinadu, said a fiat truck, two guns and eight live cartridges were recovered from the suspect. He also said the two cases have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba. He promised that those arrested will soon be taken to court.

He advised members of the public to always assist the police with information.
