Police Kill Armed Robber

The Nigeria Police at Orile-Coker area of Lagos State have shot dead a suspected robber at Ikuforiji Street near a hotel in the area.

 

A police source said the robbers were on an operation when residents sent a distress call to the police at about midnight on Saturday.

 

Acting on the information, the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, for Orile, SP Robinson Erbghare led his men to the scene of the crime.

 

The robbers reportedly opened fire on the police who also engaged the four-man gang in a gun battle that lasted some minutes.

 

At the end of the encounter, one of the robbers was shot dead but the other three managed to escape.

Before the police arrived the scene, the victims had lost cash, handsets and other valuables to the robbers.

 

When the body of the dead robber was searched, police recovered amulets, charms and a knife.

 

The corpse of the robber has been deposited at the Isolo General Hospital, mortuary for autopsy.

 

When P.M.NEWS visited the police station, the DPO was not available to comment on the incident. But a police source confirmed the incident and added that the police have organised a manhunt for the fleeing robbers.
