New Badagry DPO Assures On Peace

The newly appointed Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Badagry, Lagos State, CSP Dankoli Mohammed has promised to restore peace and security to the troubled ancient town.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the DPO, CSP Salihu Samuel, the Divisional Crime Officer, DSP Okedusi Samson and the Operations Officer, ASP Taofeek Afolabi were on May 24 killed by unknown assailants after the killing of an army sergeant.

The sergeant was reportedly shot dead by three policemen attached to the Lagos State Security Outfit, the Rapid Response Squad in Badagry on May 22.

Mohammed told NAN that he was “prepared to go all out to restore peace to the troubled town.

“I am ready to restore peace and security to Badagry so that residents can go about their businesses unmolested”.

The DPO, who was redeployed to Badagry on May 25, said peace started returning to the area after a visit by a delegation of Army and Police officers. He said:“There is no more problem in Badagry since last Friday when the GOC, 9 Brigade, Ikeja, Maj.- Gen. Kenneth Minima; AIG Suleiman Fakaye; and State Police Commissioner, Alkali Yakubu came for a reconciliatory meeting.

NAN reports that the trio, who visited the scene of the killings, the Divisional Police Headquarters and 242 Battalion, Ibereko, appealed to men and officers of both the army and the police to keep the peace.
