Fadeyi Youth Forum, a sociopolitical group in Fadeyi, Lagos State, has dissociated itself from the ongoing gang war that has been raging in the area for quite some time now.

In a chat with Lagos Bulletin, the group’s secretary, Comrade Bello Ajao, debunked reports that link its members to the crisis, saying that youths in the area are peace loving, hard working and whose collective aim is to see to the peace and security of lives and properties of people in the area.

Ajao alleged that the crisis was caused by some youths from Yaba axis of Ikorodu Road, who wanted to be collect ‘tolls’ from shop owners on their side and this, according to him, had the backing of some policemen posted to keep peace in the area.

The group therefore appealed to the police authority in the state to ensure that policemen posted to the area are changed from time to time so as to discourage a situation where cops would support a group of hoodlums against another any time there is misunderstanding among them.

It also called on Lagos State government to set up a panel of enquiry to ascertain the remote causes of the crisis and find lasting solution to it.

For the past two weeks now, motorists, commuters and residents of Fadeyi and Jibowu axis of Ikorodu Road have witnessed series of violence perpetrated by youths in the area.
