The Ekiti Patriots (TEP) has described protest by the state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caucus in the National Assembly over the list of nominees for Federal appointments submitted by the state chapter of the party as selfish and parochial.

According the group, “some of the PDP National Assembly members contributed to the party’s dismal performance in the April 26 elections.”

Reacting to the lawmakers’ claim that they were not consulted before the names of the ten nominees sent to the national headquarters of the PDP were picked, TEP said in a statement signed by its Convener, Comrade Ebenezer Olaleye that the majority of the national assembly members lack moral right to seek their inclusion in the list.

The group alleged that they were protesting against the list because they were not shortlisted.

The group said: “If the National Assembly members that are complaining now had played the roles expected of loyal party members before and during the general elections, the results of the April 26 National and State Assembly elections would have been different.

“But because some of them lost the party’s primaries, they opted to stand aloof while some of them even funded opposition candidates in the name of town agenda.

“If we may ask them, how many of them won elections in their polling units not to talk of their wards or local council?

“Even Hon. Duro Faseyi, the person who is speaking on behalf of the caucus, did he win his Ilejemeje Local Government in all the elections?

“Instead of them to bury their heads in shame, they are still complaining that their names are not included in the list of nominees for federal appointments or that they were not consulted before the Nominees were selected. Honestly, these people have no shame at all!”

Calling on all leaders of the party to come together to fashion out ways of bringing back the lost glory of PDP in the state, TEP said: “What should be of utmost importance to lovers of the PDP in Ekiti State now is how to revive the party and make it strong as it was before.

“Irrespective of personal ambition, leaders of the PDP in the state, including members of the national assembly should be cracking their brains on rebuilding the party and not how to perpetuate themselves inpublic office.”
