For allegedly raping a lady (names withheld) in company of his friend, a man, Afeez Asade has been charged before the Ikeja Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, on a two-count charge of rape.
The police prosecutor, R. Inuegbe, represented by Adeniran Kemi, told the court that the accused was arrested on 27 April , 2011 along Oba-Akran Road, Agege in the Ikeja Magisterial District for having carnal knowledge of the lady in company of his accomplice who is now at large.
The offence, according to the prosecutor is punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code, Cap.17, Vol. 2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria.
The second-count charge reads: ‘That you, Afeez Asade and one other at large on the same date and time in the aforementioned magisterial district, unlawfully had carnal knowledge of (names withheld) and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 221 of the Criminal Code, Cap.C.17, Vol. 2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2003.’
He pleaded not guilty to the charges and the presiding magistrate, Mrs. A.T. Omoyele granted him bail in the sum of N250,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Further hearing in the case has been adjourned till 2 June, 2011.
