Two persons on Monday appeared before a Somolu Magistrate’s Court in Lagos for alleged attempted robbery.

Azeez Olufowobi, 28, and Stephen Ifa, 32, were arraigned before Magistrate B.O. Osunsanmi on a two-count charge of conspiracy and attempted robbery.

The prosecutor, Asp. Akinlabi Adegoke, said the accused and others, now at large, on May 10 attempted to rob occupants of Bailey St., Ladi-Lak in the Bariga area of Lagos.

“The accused attempted to rob the area by holding the tenants hostage for over 30 minutes and rendering them incommunicado with the intent to steal from them.

“The two were captured by the security guards on the street who were left behind by their colleagues during the operation,” he said.

Adegoke said the offence contravened Sections 509 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State, 2006.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The magistrate adjourned the case till July 15 for further hearing.
