A housewife, Taiwo Isaac, 38 has been arraigned before the Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court, Lagos for assault and causing the termination of a six-month old pregnancy.
The accused was alleged to have terminated the pregnancy of her neighbour, Pricilia Anekwe, by hitting her on the chest and pushing her down.
The incident happened at 13, Mission Street, Ejo Bus Stop, Igando, Lagos where they reside as tenants.
The cause of the fight was not known but P.M.NEWS gathered that there has been rivalry between Taiwo and Pricilia and efforts to resolve the matter by neighbours proved abortive.
Taiwo was docked for offences punished under sections 249 and 355 of the Criminal Code, 2004.
She pleaded not guilty to the charges and the presiding magistrate, Mrs. S.O. Solebo granted her bail in the sum of N50,000 or like sum.
She was ordered to be remanded in prison custody at the Kirikiri Maximum Security Prisons, Apapa, Lagos, pending the fulfilment of her bail conditions.
The matter has been adjourned till 15 June, 2011 for continuation of hearing.
