The president of the customary court at Agege, Lagos State, has ordered a policeman, Mr. Irewole Sesan, to provide accommodation for his estranged wife, Mrs. Evelyn Sesan and his three children he ejected from home two years ago.

He was also ordered to pay them 15,000 monthly allowance for their upkeep until the next adjourned date.

The policeman had earlier filed a petition before the court seeking the dissolution of his marriage because of infidelity.

He accused Evelyn of having extra-marital affairs and being untrustworthy.

“I have investigated her infidelity and she confessed to me,” he stated in his petition.

In her response, Evelyn denied the allegations and accused her husband of throwing her out unjustly. “He has not visited his children since he sent us packing,” she added.

After listening to the parties, the court’s president ordered the petititoner to take up the responsibility of providing accommodation for his wife and children until 26 July, but the petitioner refused, saying he cannot do so because of his wife’s infidelity. “You do not have any business with her extra-marital affairs but the welfare of your children,” the court’s president said and threatened to take up the matter with the authorities if the petitioner remained adamant.

The matter has been adjourned till 26 July, 2011.
