Ikorodu road was blocked for about 15 minutes this morning as a result of shootings between rival gangs in Jibowu, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.
The gangs almost overpowered policemen who were deployed to the scene of the incident which happened just a few metres from the BRT bus stop at Fadeyi.
A victim of the incident, who spoke with our correspondents this morning, said the gangs had engaged in a turf battle to retain control of the area.
According to the businessman, who was shot in the back, normal business activities had started in the area when suddenly, they started hearing gun shots.
While people scampered to safety, a bullet hit him and another person who is said to have been rushed to a hospital in the area.
When P.M.NEWS called Samuel Jinadu, the state police command spokesman to comment on the shooting incident, he declined to pick his call.
It was not clear if some suspects were arrested in connection with the incident.
On Monday evening, a similar incident occurred on Ikorodu road.
