Eagles’ Games Live On SuperSport

Cable television network, SuperSport, says it would show all matches of the Ogun 2011 West African Football Union, WAFU Nations Cup live.

Nigeria today start their title defence of the WAFU Nations Cup, a title they won on home soil last year. The home-based Super Eagles open their quest for a second consecutive WAFU title against Liberia today live on SuperSport 9 on DStv from 3.55pm local time at the MKO Abiola International Stadium in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria.

Nigeria Premier League,  NPL, stars such as Sunday Rotimi (Dolphin FC), Abdulwasiu Sowemimo (Kano Pillars), Chibuzor Okonkwo (Heartland FC), Bartholomew Ibenegbu (Heartland FC), Ekigho Ehiosun (Warri Wolves), Gambo Mohammed (Kano Pillars) and Victor Ezeji (Sharks FC) have all been drafted into the Samson Siasia’s B team for the competition.

Kano Pillars defender and former Nigerian Beach Football international, Sowemimo is relishing the chance of putting on the Nigerian colours again, having made his debut in the 11 February friendly against Sierra Leone .

“I’m looking forward to our first game in the WAFU Cup. Our aim is to win this competition, but we must beat our first opponents,” he said.

Before the Nigeria/Liberia game, Niger Republic  were expected to officially get the tournament underway, but organisers say only a match may hold today.

The tournament continues tomorrow with other teams in Groub B competing for honours.
