Mali coach Cheick Diallo Fantamady tells Cafonline.com in this interview that they will approach their semi final cracker  against Nigeria with caution

What is your assessment of the first round?
I still cannot make the balance in my team right now, because there are some games remaining. We are in the semifinals and have also qualified for the World Cup. We can say that part of our objective is already achieved. The other part is the trophy and we must get it.

What are your preparations for the game against Nigeria?
We will approach them with a lot of respect. In Africa, Nigeria are known in this level of youth football. They are amongst the elites of African football and we respect them for that.

Does it mean that you are scared of the Flying Eagles?
Not at all. We respect them like other opponents. We are not at this level of the competition by chance but on merit. We have a solid team. Our team are solid. The players are in a positive mood and are psychologically sound. We will face Nigeria with caution and great commitment.

What is the strength of your team?
Compared to the other youth teams, I must say that Mali are one of the most regular faces at this tournament. But we have never won the cup. I think the difference between our team and others is the mind set. My players have the spirit to win. They are sturdy in the head and have the will to win.

What do you make of the other semi final between Cameroon and Egypt?
It is between two giants of African football. Both countries have won the African Cup before. I think at this level, we should see both teams in good condition, if they have recovered well. The mental toughness of the teams will play a part in their game. Egypt have struggled to reach this far. From that, I think that Cameroon have an advantage after resting many players in the third game against Ghana. Either side can win.
